YARD ART will feature art installations in the front yards of downtown and Belmont area homes in Charlottesville, Summer, 2009. The art installations will employ a wide range of media that may include visual, sound and/or performance elements. Participating local artists to be announced.
The event will kick off with a festive, progressive opening with potluck, block parties at the different installation sites. The installation sites will be within walking distance of downtown to encourage viewers to walk or bike.
As the event approaches, a tour map with the locations and brief descriptions of the art installations will be available through download from this web site and at cooperating arts organizations, educational institutions, and businesses.
